| Our current school buildings date back to 1900 and are now in a poor state of repair, as well as being too small and somewhat unsuitable for learning in the 21st century.
As such, we have now received planning permission for a new school that will see Tidemill re-built in early 2011 as part of the innovative £29m Giffin Street Regeneration programme. The new school will be co-located with a library and access point and will have additional accommodation for voluntary and community groups, adult education classes, sports facilities and potentially offices for the Metropolitan Police and small business start-ups. This exciting development will provide Tidemill with state of the art classrooms and learning environments.
Tidemill has achieved great results in challenging circumstances. Our ambition is to develop our school even further so that we become the heart of a learning community providing life-long learning opportunities for all.
We had been hoping to move in during the summer but building works were unfortunately delayed. However, the building is now nearly complete and fit out should be starting in mid September. Moving dates will be confirmed as soon as possible but we hope to move during half term or possibly sometime in November. |
